Coaching Experience & Accomplishment: Coach Apple is the current head coach of the University of Rochester’s Men’s Soccer Team. Apple took over at his alma mater after coaching at the University of Notre Dame from 1996-2000. He was an assistant coach of the men’s team in there from March, 1996 until March 2000. and then served as the interim head coach of the Fighting Irish from March, 2000 until December 2000. From March, 1994 to March, 1996, Apple was the head coach at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, NC. He began his coaching career in 1993 at Harvard.
He began coaching for the Junior Rhinos in the fall of 2001. He led his U-15 Elite team to the USYSA National Championship in 2002. He was named the New York State West and USYSA Region One Boys Coach of the Year. He earned similar honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. |
| Playing Experience & Accomplishments: Chris earned All-America honors for the Yellowjackets in 1989 (as a sophomore) and 1991 (as a senior). He earned a Scholar-Athlete Award from the NSCAA in 1989. He was an All-University Athletic Association choice in midfield for three seasons (1989-1991) and was named the UAA’s Player of the Year in 1990. He played professionally with the Raleigh Flyers in Raleigh, NC in 1994 and with Spvgg Weiden in Weiden, Germany in 1992 and 1993. |
| Other Soccer Activities: Coach Apple was a member of the NCAA South Region Selection Committee in 1995 while at North Carolina Wesleyan. |
