Girls U10 Red Finishes 2010 Season With 2 Tournament Victories

The team traveled to Philadelphia, PA over the July 4th weekend and battled some fierce competition from PA, NJ, and Long Island, NY in the sweltering 100+ degree heat. The core GU10 Red team was helped out by the leadership of 2 GU10 Blue players, 3 guest players from area clubs, and some key fill-in minutes each game from a few GU08 players! After 2 draws on the opening day, the Empire United GU10 team won their Sunday morning game 2-0 to place them in the Championship game on Sunday afternoon. The girls survived the heat and played to a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation, so the game went to a Shootout! EUSA Rochester took the CUP when their 1st three players put balls into the net, and an extremely impressive display of goalkeeping by our guest GU10 Blue goalie kept the team from Long Island from getting a goal in the shootout! The Independence Cup has toured Monroe and Wayne counties as the team has been sharing it this summer.

The following weekend, the EUSA Rochester GU10 Red team swept their bracket, going 4-0-0, in the 2010 Cobras FC Tournament at TSE July 9-11. After wins on Friday night over the RFC and both Cobras U10 teams on Saturday, the GU10 Red team beat a tough Northtowns Rage team in their final game on Sunday.
